The dedicated wine experience and holiday website.
Whether you’re looking for a luxury chateau in St Emilion, with a rich glass of red, in front of a roaring fire; a riverside campsite in the comfortable summer heat of the Loire valley, with a crisp glass of Chenin blanc; a farmhouse in Tuscany with it’s own pizza oven, overlooking acres of vineyards; or a train ride through the Douro, sampling a heady array of Port, whilst enjoying the ever changing scenery of steep vineyards over the river. Vinoscapes will help you find your perfect wine experience.
The idea conceived on a camping and cycling trip, with my daughter, through the lush vineyards of Burgundy. We were on our way to the Italian sparkling wine region of Franciacorta, bordering the beautiful lake Iseo. Where tasting traditional method sparkling wine from various passionate producers can be followed by an afternoon of wake boarding or kayaking, or if you’re so inclined, sight seeing in one of the numerous fortified cities of the region .This was before meeting my (also wine mad) parents in the undulating hills of the origins of Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, where we cycled to vineyards, tasted gorgeous organic wines accompanied by perfectly paired charcuterie and cheese…And some of us, less practiced in the art of cycling after a couple of glasses, fell into an irrigation ditch on the way back.
Growing up in the Cape, wine was part of life. Weekends often involved family trips along the wine route, where we as children, would play in the enormous grounds of the wine estate, while our parents tasted wine, deciding what to buy…Before lunch of freshly sourced local produce, overlooking vineyards. This is the sort of experience that leads to a lifelong passion.
